How to Make 2025 the Year You Finally Prioritise YOU

We’re a few months into 2025… so let me ask:

How are your health goals going?

If you’re like most ambitious women I know, you started this year with the best of intentions.

Maybe it was to feel more energised, lose a bit of weight, eat better, or finally do something just for yourself.

But somewhere along the way, life got in the way—again. Work deadlines, family responsibilities, emotional overwhelm. The days blur, and suddenly the promises you made to yourself get pushed to the bottom of the list.

I get it. I’ve been there myself. I’ve also coached dozens of women through that exact feeling: of wanting more for their health and happiness, but feeling unsure where to start—or how to make it last.

Here’s the truth:

You don’t need another quick fix. You need a gentler, smarter strategy.

And this could be the year everything changes.

Why Health Goals Often Don’t Stick (Even When We Really Want Them To)

Let’s be honest—most health goals fail not because we don’t care enough, but because we set them from a place of pressure, not self-respect.

Here’s what I see all the time:

  • Unrealistic expectations and all-or-nothing thinking

  • Doing everything alone, without support

  • Trying to force motivation instead of building habits

  • Giving up at the first “slip” because we think it means we’ve failed

Sound familiar?

I remember setting goals that felt exciting at first—until they became overwhelming. I'd cut carbs, push myself through intense workouts, and then feel guilty when I couldn't sustain it. It wasn’t that I lacked discipline. I was just disconnected from what my body actually needed.

That’s when I realised: Health doesn’t have to be hard. It has to be honest.

6 Simple Strategies That Help You Prioritise You

These are the same strategies I use with my clients—and the same ones I’ve used personally to shift from burnout to balance:

1. Start with your real WHY

Not just “I want to lose weight” or “feel better.” Go deeper.

  • Why does this matter now?

  • Why will it still matter when motivation fades?

When you find your deeper emotional driver (I call it your MOFA—Most Obvious Feel-it-in-Your-Body Why), it becomes so much easier to stay committed.

2. Set goals that are clear and kind

Vague goals like “get healthy” don’t work. Try:

  • “I’ll go for a walk before lunch on workdays.”

  • “I’ll prep two dinners each week that feel nourishing.”

Realistic. Measurable. Supportive. That’s what creates momentum.

3. Start small—really small

If your goal feels heavy, shrink it.

What can you start today, in 5 minutes or less?

That’s how real change begins. With small shifts that compound.

4. Don’t do it alone

Accountability changes everything.

Whether it's a coach, a friend, or a group—having people around you who see your potential (especially when you forget it) is a game-changer.

5. Track progress—but track what actually matters

It’s not just about weight.

Track how you feel.

Energy. Focus. Confidence. Sleep. These are the real markers of progress.

6. Focus on how you feel, not just what you achieve

When the goal becomes feeling good in your body—instead of just changing it—everything shifts.

Movement becomes nourishing. Food becomes fuel.

You become more you.

Anna’s Story: From Exhaustion to Empowerment

One of the most powerful transformations I’ve witnessed was with Anna.

She first reached out after seeing a post I shared about body confidence. Her message was simple: “Transform.”

That one word carried years of frustration, self-judgment, and the deep desire for change.

Anna had spent so long doing what she thought she should do—pushing herself through gruelling workouts, eating “clean,” but never feeling satisfied. She told me she felt disconnected from who she used to be: someone who loved to move and dance, but no longer had the energy or time.

During our time together, we didn’t focus on restriction. We focused on reconnection.

We rebuilt her daily rhythms.

She started walking more, meditating, spending 20 minutes in the sauna, and breathing with intention.
She created a daily gratitude habit.
She started moving in ways that felt joyful again.

One of the most beautiful shifts?
She started keeping a “compliment folder”—a space to collect kind words others gave her. She was amazed at how many she’d received but never fully let in.

Affirmations became a tool, not a cliché. She rewired the inner voice that used to hold her back.

And she began to feel—lighter, stronger, more grounded.

Not just physically. Emotionally. Energetically.

“Self-care is essential, not selfish,” she told me at the end of our coaching.
“I feel confident. I feel happy. And movement is no longer a chore—it’s medicine.”

What If This Year, You Put Yourself First?

You don’t need to wait for a better time, more motivation, or a new Monday.

What if now was the time you started choosing you—in small ways, daily?

What if your habits didn’t drain you—but restored you?

And what if your version of “healthy” was less about restriction… and more about respect?

Here’s what I know for sure:

  • When your energy rises, your focus sharpens

  • When your digestion improves, so does your mood

  • When you feel lighter, you show up differently—for yourself, and everyone around you

You don’t have to earn your own care. You’re already worthy of it.
